The issue may not be with chrome in particular ... I have seen the same
behavior in recent weeks/months, in Firefox (3.6.11), Seamonkey
(1.1.10), and Epiphany (2.20.0) ... my only answer also has been to
force quit ... sometimes the browser will force quit, sometimes I have
to kill Gnome (<Ctrl-Alt-Backspace>), and sometimes I have just rebooted
(although I don't think a reboot was ever necessary).

My spouse who uses Seamonkey 2.1.x has also had the same issue ... her
fuse in shorter than mine and I believe she usually just
reboots/resets. I know she hates pop ups and quickly leaves any site
that uses them.

I should be interested in any suggestions or insight, as well
Regards
Fred James
