Unless he can give *concrete* and *specific* reasons, it sounds like he is establising quite a bit of dis-credibility there. He may be working from Windows experience. If so, he is best forgiven and then gently ignored. I say that not as a matter of principle, but because the longer an uninformed loudmouth is allowed to delay your data-gathering and diagnostic process, the later things will be fixed. Typically, folks will offer uninformed suggestions as to what to do, and the loudest voice and laziest approach will dominate, just by sheer force of annoyance.
