I have been hooking asterisk to vitelity.net to provide my in and out
trunks, and it usually works well. Once in a while, maybe once or twice a
week, I can make a bad call, and the person I called has a hard time
understanding me. When that happens, I can call the echo number
9093900009, and sure enough, my voice is breaking up.

I've submitted 4 trouble tickets to Vitelity, and they say they have made
routing changes, but the problem keeps recurring. They ask for a
traceroute to I guess their server when it acts up, and here is the current
one, in case someone on the list can solve my problem with this.

It looks like it is taking the long way there.

In fact the phone isn't working at all right now.

The asterisk log is full of:
[2012-02-12 04:02:02] VERBOSE[32718] asterisk.c: -- Remote UNIX connection
disconnected
[2012-02-12 16:08:37] NOTICE[2866] chan_sip.c: -- Registration for '
[email protected]' timed out, trying again (Attempt #2)
[2012-02-12 16:08:57] NOTICE[2866] chan_sip.c: -- Registration for '
[email protected]' timed out, trying again (Attempt #3)
(probably 30 more lines as above)

I'll reboot my asterisk box, and that might heal it up for a while.

Does anyone have experience with a voip provider who delivers reliable,
quality voip calls over a DSL line, in the Portland Metro Area?

Thanks PLUG
