Fedora 16, x86_64 on Thinkpad T61 using nVidia drivers. All updates
applied.

I require Virtualbox to run Windows 2000 in which I run Quickbooks. I
need to run it only once every couple of weeks, but when I need it I
really need it.

Today I launched Virtualbox, which came up without error. I tried to
start the Windows 2000 machine (which always worked flawlessly before),
and got a dialog box that said:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 2000.
The virtual machine 'Windows 2000' has terminated unexpectedly
during startup because of signal 9.

The first time I tried this there was a "details" button that offered
additional information, none of which was in English, just stuff that a
programmer might understand. I did not copy it down. I decided to
Google on the problem and got a Google page open, then the entire
computer hung - no keyboard, no mouse. There were no flashing lights. I
had to hit the power button. In three years of running Fedora I have
run into issues, but I have never had the computer hang completely.

Upon restarting I tried again. This time I was able to write down the
above error message, but when I tried to click on the details button to
copy down the additional information the computer had hung again.

Upon restarting I opened Yumex first and applied all available updates
(33 of them), then rebooted. After rebooting I tried Virtualbox again,
and this time it hung as soon as I selected "Windows 2000" and hit the
Start button; I never even got the above error message.

I also have Windows XP installed as a virtual machine. Trying to start
it locks up the computer the same as the Windows 2000 machine.

Fortunately, everything else works just fine, as before.

I posted this morning on the Fedora forums. So far 95 people have
viewed my post, but no suggestions. I am out of ideas and I really need
to print an invoice so I can ship an order. Any suggestions welcome!
