I want to perform a bios update on my newly acquired eee pc 1015PEM. The only way ASUS specifies is to use a program (AsusUpdate) provided with the machine, running Windows 7 Starter. I have not yet removed Win 7, so I can use that program. When I use that program to download the bios file, the most recent version is 0801 10/7/2010. (This is through an FTP site.) ASUS's support web site lists a 1301 01/30/2012, and does not list the 0801 version at all.
I can transfer the 1301 version file to the netbook and use AsusUpdate to update the bios. i suspect that Asus has just not kept the ftp site up to date, but maybe there is another explanation. I do not want to brick the thing. Once I get the Bios updated, I will scrap the Win 7 and install Ubuntu.
