Normally it isn't recommended to grab just any .deb off of a web site
and try to install it. That is because it may be built for some
version of Debian or Ubuntu that is not the same as what you are
using. You *can* do it, but it is one of those things you do only "if
you know what you are doing".

In your URL above, that package is likely for an old version of
Debian (named lenny), so a recent version of ubuntu doesn't have the
proper supporting libraries (causing your error).

Instead, try running:

  sudo apt-get install freewrl

Failing that, run synaptic or aptitude and search for the package.
The name may have changed slightly, but read the package descriptions.
On my Debian unstable distribution, that package isn't available. It
may be that it has been supplanted by a newer package by a different
name. You could search the package list for "vrml" and "x3d" and see
what comes up. You could also search around on freshmeat and
sourceforge for alternative packages and then check aptitude/synaptic
for those names.

Note that in aptitude, you may search by regular expressions, so
"free.*wrl" would match "freewrl" and "freeANYTHINGwrl". Not sure
about synaptic.

Hope that helps,
tim
