Hmm, doing a "+linux +lilo +doc" Google search gave me four hits. :-)
The only one that seems to be what you're looking for is

    <http://tldp.org/HOWTO/LILO.html>

It might help if we knew what kind of Linux setup you were working
with. Is there a reason you want to go with the old boot loaders?
Even Fedora has finally gone to Grub2. :-)

Oooh, high speed paper tape. Such fond memories of booting the PDP-11
at work off of a Remex reader-punch that had no takeup reel. It was
designed to make a mess on the floor. :-) And core memory! DVST
terminals! Toggling the boot loader into the system from the front
panel switches! 300 baud acoustic-coupler modems! (Is that horrific
enough, do you think?)
