>Why invest so much money in a box when you could buy >a big ten pack of 4-8GB Thumbdrives for a fraction of >the cost and not increase FreeGeek's power consumption? > >Last time I was at the Costco here in NE they had ten pack's for >around $40 and with ten you could have two copies of every major >distro. You don't understand. It would be more *fun* to make a box. Keith showed off his 3 TB USB 3.0 drive. Using his USB 3.0 Expresscard in my [now] ancient Thinkpad T61 we got transfer rates of around 80 MB/s. The computer he is planning will have a USB 3.0 card in it, so it will be fast. Add a couple fast DVD drives and we will be able to produce any distro needed. The capacity will allow us to store more than the 100 GB of distros that I currently have on my laptop, freeing up that space for myself. All this makes me think of replacing my 4.5 year old Thinkpad. But it still works, so I can't justify replacing it. I wish something fatal would break on it so I could buy a new one. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
