Mike,

   The behavior I observed on the Sony after installing ifplugd was that it
would drop and raise eth0 as the cable was removed and inserted, but only
then. Had no effect after booting with no cable inserted. This weekend I'll
check to ensure that I have only one instance of ifplugd installed.
