Previously the cables picked up RF in the room giving me odd noise
artifacts. Now that I have my new Bluetooth device set up my stereo is
silent when music is not playing. That is, it is silent except for a
rumble noise in the background. It is loud enough to hear it even
when music is playing. When the music stops it is very obvious, but
then stops and the system goes silent after five or ten seconds.

Since the system goes silent, it cannot be RF interference.

This happens with Rythmbox, Banshee and Amarok. It happens whether I am
streaming internet radio, playing a CD, or playing an MP3 that I ripped
and encoded from my collection.

I paired it with my Android phone and there is no rumble at all. Music
is clear as a bell.

My guess is that there is something going on with the sound card or the
connection between the sound card and the Bluetooth dongle in the
desktop computer.

Suggestions?
