Short answer: No, because of the requirement for "good". I messed with this
a while back. After trying a bunch of items that didn't seem to work very
well I landed on the following as "not friendly but the best we've got":
1) To record a video (only) of your screen traffic:
ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 1024x768 -r 10 -i :0.0 -sameq -r 30 ~/output.mpeg
2) To record video and audio (in my case a microphone):
ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 1024x768 -r 30 -i :0.0 -f alsa -ac 2 -i hw:0,0
-sameq -async 4 -map 0,0 -map 1 ~/output.mpeg
All the extra stuff in the "with audio" version is needed to keep the audio
sync'd with the video -- otherwise it drifts progressively farther out of
sync. You'll probably need to play with some of the parameters to fit your
system (screen resolution, audio source, etc.), but that should get you 80%
of the way there.
Good luck. If anyone has anything better, let's hear about it!
