OSCON is over, but the memory of another grand time lingers. At the PLUG booth we handed out about 200 business cards (thanks for the printing, Bill!), and around 70 fliers. It was great to see familiar PLUG faces stop by to chat, even better to see fallen-away PLUGGERS take a card and a flier, promising to start coming to the meetings again. But the most wonderful ones were the new people who had not heard of PLUG before. As they go through their schwag bags I'm hoping that a lot of them see the business card or flier and sign up for the lists.
O'Reilly orchestrated events beautifully, as always. The exhibitors showed even more cost cutting on the schwag than last year. And in the past if an evening party was any distance at all from the convention center they hired buses to transport people, but this year you were on your own. Not easy for the people from out of town. None of the cost cutting bothered me, though. These aren't boom times, and I'm glad for our free booth and the free parties. My only real complaint is the convention center food. Tasteless, uninspired food doesn't speak well for Portland. Before next year's OSCON I'm going to buy their kitchen a spice rack. I hope everyone who attended had as much fun as I did. Portland is a great place to be in open source! _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
