When I bought my Thinkpad T61 almost five years ago I started by wiping Windows and installing Ubuntu (currrently Fedora 16, x86_64). The next thing I did was go into the BIOS and disable the touchpad because I use an external mouse and the touchpad drives me nuts. OK, I'm already nuts, but no point in becoming nuttier.
Imagine my surprise yesterday to discover that the touchpad was working. I rebooted and went into the BIOS (for the first time in nearly five years). Sure enough, the touchpad was enabled. I disabled it again, and all is back to normal. I have never heard of an operating system or program that can alter BIOS settings. Is this possible? OK, evidently it is possible, since it definitely happened. But what could have changed the BIOS setting? And why? _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
