Thanks for the reply, Keith. It turns out that like you I also ended up changing my mind about getting one as I did more research. The main reason is that I found the T430S (note the 'S') which is only a pound more, but doesn't require dongles, has a DVD-R drive I can remove and put in another HD if I want, still has the same high-res screen and great keyboard, and is significantly cheaper, too. The disk space issue is a big one - the X1 Carbon maxes out at 256 GB SSD, which just isn't quite big enough for my needs. Being able to fit a standard sized laptop hard drive in the thing creates a lot of flexibility.
