I received an old winders system from some friends who switched to Apple
products. Included is a Canon MP620 printer/scanner. It has a network
interface on it, so I plugged it in to the home network. On the little
screen on the printer I can see that the device obtained an IP address
from my router, and I can see the MAC address. I don't find any way to
set a fixed IP address. In fact, I don't find too much useful
information about the printer. I find information about using it with
winders and Mac machines, but not much useful related to using it on a
Linux machine.

I'm not too concerned about being able to print to it since I am happy
printing to one of my laser printers. But I would like to try the
scanner on the thing.

Does anyone have experience with this printer? Most of what I've found
on the web talks about how it didn't work, or how it can work for an
older version of Ubuntu than I'm using, (10.04 and 12. 04).

Clue sticks are appreciated.

Thanks.
