I have a Western Digital WD10EARS Caviar disk drive that comes up with
a strange Extended Partition Offset is misaligned by 1024 bytes when I
have formatted the drive using Disk Utility and with GParted. Should
I be concerned about this?

About 4 days ago the system started acting strange and getting general
protection faults (Intel Processor)

I rebooted with a standalone version of linux and the hardware seemed
okay, until I started to check the drives, the software was unable to
remove the swap partition from the logical partition.

Finally I was able to reformat the whole drive, but the Disk Utility
under Ubuntu keeps warning me about a misaligned extended logical
parition boundary being off by 1024 bytes.

I don't know what to do about this? Is this a wierd error from the
Disk Utility itself? I don't want to run with a drive in an unknown
condition. Are there any utilities that will correctly check the
drive?

Thanks for your suggestions

Randall

btw: 64 bit processor chip
