I have Mint 13 on my laptop, and it has Mate desktop not Xfce.
However, you should be able to see the installed version from within the
Synaptic Package Manager.
It shows columns for package name, installed version, latest version, and
description.
I can't remember if this is default software or not, I have always used it
on Debian/Ubuntu based systems.
If you don't have it, you can install it from apt on command line, or the
default Software Manager.

You should also be able to get the version info from apt itself, with the
command:

$ apt version [packagename]

Just supply it with one of the main package names for xfce.
