Thanks to Daniel's help all issues are fixed. Needed to re-define the
printers in CUPS and specify the LJ5 as the default (the step I had
forgotten).

When I was futzing with the Netgear router I managed to unplug the cat5
for my laptop and didn't recognize the behaviors as indicating to wire from
laptop to router. Daniel did.

The Belkin wireless router was mis-configured by me because I did not
really understand enough wifi foo. Now it's set to issue DHCP addresses on
the radio side while having a static IP address on the LAN side. On my Dell
laptop I keep eth0 with a static IP address but on the Sony laptop there are
no static IP addresses. This lets it connect to the Belkin here and other
wireless networks elsewhere. Why the Sony can't live in both static wired
and dynamic wireless worlds is unknown to me, but it now works as we need it
to.

All's good with the local computer world now. I'll finish the new
server/workstation and put Slackware-14.1 on it when the DVD arrives.

Whew!

Rich
