A question was asked about scanner code for the Epson WF-2540 printer. I was able to find the linux drivers at the Epson webpage
http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/searchModuleFromResult by entering in the "WF-2540" model and "linux" OS. Since I have a 64-bit system, I took the precomplied modules and installed the data package and then the core package and then the nt-plugin package, all in that order. Unfortunately, for me, running openSuse 13.1, when I attempted to use Yast2 to configure the scanner, for a network scanner, the xinetd start up file in the /etc/init.d location is missing (forcing one to use chkconfig {service} on/off command to enable/disable that service) so the scanning-detection routine failed. Some fixing is necessary to enable scanning the LAN for the Epson scanner, but the source packages are available from Epson (believe it or not) I am very reluctant to fix the folders/scripts inside openSuse 13.1 /etc area because of the likelihood of breaking something or creating a hacking vulnerability with xinetd.
