I find no link to the mailing lists archives on www.pdxlinux.org; my Web
search shows a skylab server which must have re-entered the atmosphere and
crisped since the link turns up an Atlanta page.

About a month ago I asked for laptop repair recommendations and someone
here recommended a place near SE 20th Ave. and Division (or in that
neighborhood). I no longer have their name and address and that's why I went
looking for the list archive.

Now that the kmod package has been restored and the ntpd configuration
files made equivalent with all other hosts here, it seems to me that the
only other potential cause of the time not being kept is a failing CMOS
battery. Or, would that cause it to slow rather than advance? About a
half-hour ago the Sony Vaio displayed the time 14 hours from then. Running
/usr/sbin/ntpd from /etc/rc.d/rc.local fixed the time creep in the Toshiba
Satellite but is not doing the job in the Sony Vaio.

I'll try a cron job first because my experience with CMOS batteries is
that they last as long as the rest of the system.

So, please point me to where the mail list archives now reside (and a link
on the group's Web page would be nice) so I can find that post with the
repair shop's name and address.

And, if any of you ntpd gurus have other suggestions for testing to find
the problem source, or other solutions to try, please pass them on.

TIA,

Rich
