Are you maybe hitting ctrl+alt+backspace for something? I don't know if it is a Cinnamon config or just a Mint thing but our machines have that enabled which gives the impression of logging out... I don't think there is a config for auto logout but next time I'm in at Free Geek (Friday) I will check on it. Some random questions: Which distro? What GPU / video driver? Cinnamon or Cinnamon 2D?
