Slackware does not require building from source. There are abundant other, non-distribution packages, in www.slackbuilds.org. Those come with the SlackBuilds script that does the configuration and building for you. > I really want apt-get &/or Synaptic ;/ For Slackware there's slackpkg. It goes to your chosen repository, checks for updates (about which you will receive an e-mail message when you sign up for the notifications), then downloads and upgrades the latest revision.
