   Slackware does not require building from source. There are abundant other,
non-distribution packages, in www.slackbuilds.org. Those come with the
SlackBuilds script that does the configuration and building for you.

   For Slackware there's slackpkg. It goes to your chosen repository, checks
for updates (about which you will receive an e-mail message when you sign up
for the notifications), then downloads and upgrades the latest revision.
