Some Chromebooks are quite plastic-y and I do see mentions of ones with 
replaced screens. And, for what it's worth, I have seen a ARM ones for 
$110 on Craigslist.

As for temperatures, I was surprised to hear about baking ASICS before 
use on a PCB because of the moisture they may have absorbed.

FreeBSD is building for my Chromebook as I type...
