It depends.  Is the other building next to the house?  You can run a
phone line to it but you won't need a DSL modem for voice calls.  DSL
modems are for internet and you typically just have one per internet
account. If this is the case (building is adjacent to house), I would
just run a phone line (voice) and cat5 or 6 cable from the modem/router
for internet.
