   I don't use Thunar or any other GUI file manager (such as midnight
commander, mc), only the command line. None of the thumb drives I have
contain hidden files, so what you see might be an artifact of using Thunar.

   As a test, run (without the quote marks, of course) 'which mc'. If you
find /usr/bin/mc, try running it. Midnight Commander is a non-GUI visual
file manager for the shell. Copy a file or three to your flash drive, then
look at it and see if you have the .trash<whatever> hidden file there.
