I see that the proper name and description was given to the device in question. I run both a tablet and a laptop in my company vehicle, though soon we willl be going to tablets and putting the laptop away.
Due to what I use both devices for I can see where someone may want a lap- top. I see all of the arguments against, and they are quite logical and reason- able, but if you feel you need a laptop, I use a older Thinkpad X201, there is a folding version of it, if it is as reliable as the X200 and X201 I have then you have a winner. You can go on line and purchase a 12-16vdc (input power) PSU for the laptop, I did so for my company Thinkpad, the charger works very well for my X200 and X201, it charges the computer quite fast and I have had no issues with it. That said, I agree with those who propose the use of a phone or phablet for your application. A lot less to have to hide. You will need one that supports the larger memory chips though, but I think given the application it is worth the investigation and purchase of such a device. If you still want the "Tablet PC" here is the Thinkpad X201 tablet pc version of the X201. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series-tablet/x201tablet/ Lenovo no longer makes it but being a Thinkpad you can find the parts in your local dumpster almost. I have had Thinkpads since I did RF coverage work for the utilities back in the 90's they are great mobile computers. There are a lot of them on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/bhp/x201-tablet I think I saw some bits and pieces of one at Free Geek, you might watch there too. There were a lot of these bought for commercial use in both the utilities, sales, ins. adjusters and others who needed a tablet in pre-tablet days, or needed a machine that could run the software needed to do the job in the field, at that time tablets were still just starting to appear.
