That would work if I was on the original network. But, as mentioned, I'm at a friend's house, using her network. > Also, the netgear router has a list of all dhcp address assigned. log in > via > > http://192.168.1.1 from any attached computer Which would be doable if I had the password for her router. It was at the end of a long day, and I didn't want to call her (she lives at her other house). > if desktop seems to fire up but has no video after a move > > 1. reseat video card > 2. check for bent pins on video cable > 3. plug monitor into know good computer Good points, all, and ones I should have thought of. Add to that list, make sure to use the correct video jacks! Both the motherboard jacks and the add-on card jacks are recessed from the back of the mini tower case. The add-on card area is separate from the motherboard area, as I suspect it is on most boxes. When viewed from above, the top card in the add-on card area is not visible. Right off, I'm not sure why I remembered the nVidia card, but eventually I did, and that led to the solution the problem. Thanks for the basic troubleshooting clue stick reminder. As I said, it was at the end of a long day. -- Regards, Dick Steffens _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
