This is the machine that had the monitor quit. Now with a new monitor it appeared to boot satisfactorily, but none of the icons launch anything, attempting to shut down via the icon just blanks the menu bar then restores it. I have had to shut down using the power switch (numerous times, some when the monitor was dead.)
I rebooted into recovery. Got a busybox msg and initramfs msgs. Kernel panic. No idea what of the messages are useful; no idea where to go from here. I just yesterday created a startup usb stick, so I can try to boot from that. If successful, what then? Thanks for any ideas.
