I shall do so. It is Ubuntu Mate 16.04, but I am running Compiz on the desktop. The machine is a Thinkpad X-301. I am suspecting that it has something to do with going to the login as if the screen goes dark for a short time I can touch a key or the pointing device and it will wake back up just fine, but if it times to the point it is going to ask for a login I am believing that is where the issue is, or it is near by.
