I believe we have some Inkscape users here who can point me in the proper
direction for cropping an image.

The .svg image has too much white space and I want to crop it so only the
text and a thin border remain. Inkscape-0.91 is installed here.

After loading the image I found Edit->Crop->Set. This put a box around the
text (which would work for me), but when I tried to save what I thought
would be the cropped image I saved the original image.

I've not found how to save only the cropped portion. The built-in help
wants a library not installed here (but necessary for the newer Inscape
version) since I very rarely use this tool. What might I be missing?

Alternatively, I tried using ImageMagick to crop a .png version on the
command line but the .png is not sharp since it was converted from the
original .pdf vector format. If there's a tool to crop a portion of a .pdf
document and save only the cropped portion please point me to it. Neither
pdftk nor MasterPDFEditor can do this.
