Got my FreeNAS 9-10-U4 system back up. Found out that a small 500G hard drive had failed. It wasn't used by any of the ZFS pools at all. Why does FreeNAS shut down when a single drive fails on a sector access even if that drive isn't part of any ZFS pool?
How can I check to see if my two 4 TB drives are properly mirroring each other and not in linear append mode? I have a single 2 tb drive, maybe I should replace it with two 4 tb drives for a second data set. My concern, the 2 TB WD green drive is old. I'm thinking two 4TB WD Reds. Does anyone know if FreeNAS has a plugin that can back up Windows 10 systems incrementally? Preferably, something that can back up Linux systems as well. MyPCbackup doesn't work, dad wants a reliable local area solution. I figure a commercial FreeNAS box dedicated to him might be appropriate. He should be able to mirror to a NAS box elsewhere at another location for additional protection. If I can get FreeNAS to be more reliable, need to make sure that smart testing is on and running frequently enough... I'm upgrading to FreeNAS 11 right now, the release candidate finally came out. Please check out http://www.freenas.org if you don't know what FreeNAS is. Well, PLEX will be up again once the upgrade to FreeNAS 11 is complete. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
