Androids are Linux/Unix based:
on my Nexas6[rooted] and some of my other linux boxes
have cat >> a hosts.txt file  to /etc/hosts nulling the dumb junk.
got the file from : https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts
 On newer Android /system is mount readonly, have remount /system r/w
to make changes to /system/etc/hosts
