Perhaps a compromise is to find a suitable location and bring in pizza,
doughnuts, or whatever comestibles are desired.

There are several tech firms downtown who provide space for meetings of
the local Python, PostgreSQL, and R groups. I don't recall just which
businesses support the local tech communities but I assume those in the
business can find one willing to host PLUG AT meetings. You should also be
avle to find a food and drink sponsor for occasional meetings if not all of
them.

Sometimes there's a narrow time window when people can get in, usually
between the time the employees go home and when building security locks the
front door.
