Folks,
My hard drive took a dive, I had it mostly backed up but still had to go
through and pick
some stuff out, well dd was my very good friend.

Now I moved from Ubuntu Mate 20.04 to 22.04 Prior to that move the video
had been
working perfectly. I use Compiz as my window manager, have done so for
years. I have
never had issues except once where I had to download the Nvidia bloob to
get things
right video wise.

Well after the install of everything and moving over to Compiz from Mate
Marco, I have
encountered things that make it rough. When the screen goes dark sometimes
I can
not get it to come back. all I get is a black screen I can see the cursor
move around.
The recovery is to ssh into the machine and kill the session. NOW, wen the
session
comes back up it is in a very low resolution, I am running a 2560 x 1080
screen have
been now for quite some time, On the orginal system I had no problems with
it.
Also things like gkrellm do not remember their location at shutdown and
come up in
the wrong location. There is other weirdness but those are some of the high
points.

I run compiz because I am very used to it and have a lot of shortcuts
particularly with
the mouse buttons and wheel I tried to use a regular desktop and about
pulled my hair
out trying to navigate without compiz.

The one thing I have noticed when the desktop comes back up after I have to
kill it to
gain access, the resolution has dropped to 1600 x 900. If I try to increase
it again the
video tears in the areas where the screen was increased in size.

The machine is a Optiplex 9010, running Ubuntu Mate 22.04. 16G of ram. The
7 processors
are idling at from 0% to 11%.

All else appears to be working just fine. Just the video.
