For some unknown reason when my screen saver activates, suspend also

I've tried looking for where in the settings to control suspend. I find
several references, but none of them indicated that suspend should be
activated. Can anyone point to some other place where suspend may be
activated from?
Environment is:
Xubuntu 22.04
Desktop Environment Xfce
For Xfce, all the screen saver stuff is in the 'Settings Manager'. There
are sometimes 3 places to check:
xfce4-screensaver
XScreenSaver (if installed)
Power Manager
For xfce4-screensaver, 'lock screen' tab, uncheck/disable "Lock Screen
with System Sleep"
In "Settings Editor" there is "xfce4-screensaver". It as no tabs, but
does have a "lock" property with an "enabled" line. The "lock" has a
"Type" labeled "Empty", and a "Locked" checkbox, which is also not
checked. The "enabled" line has a "Type" labeled "Boolean" with two
check boxes, Locked and Value. Both are not checked.
There is also a "saver" property, again with a "Type" called "Empty" and
an unchecked checkbox.
Under that is a line with "Idle-activation" with a "Type" of "Empty" and
an unchecked checkbox in the "Locked" column.
Below that is a line with "delay" with a "Type" of "Integer" and an
unchecked checkbox, an a "Value " of 15.
Below that is a line with "mode" with a "Type" of "Integer" and an
unchecked checkbox, with a "Value" of 0.
Remove XScreenSaver if you do not use it as it will conflict with the
Xfce version.
There is no XScreenSaver.
In Power Manager
-> System - set the appropriate "on Battery" and "Plugged in" settings
In each case, uncheck "Lock screen when system is going to sleep" if you
don't want it to do that.
Power Manager -> System has the following:
System power saving
System sleep mode: [Suspend]. Suspend is a selection in a drop down
box, but there is nothing else offered.
When inacive fo 20 minutes.
Security
[ ] Lock screen when system is going to sleep. This checkbox is not
checked.
Since you are running a Ubuntu flavor, check to see if you have any
other conflicting power management software installed. Since I run
Slackware, my system is PURE Xfce as distributed by the Xfce devs.
Power Manager -> General has the following:
Buttons
When power button is pressed: Ask
When sleep button is pressed: Do nothing
When hibernate button is pressed: Do nothing
When battery button is pressed: Do nothing
Brightness step count: 10
Appearance
Status notifications Not selected
System tray icons Not selected
Display
Display power management Selected
Blank after 15 minutes
Put to sleep after Never
Switch off after Never
Brightness reduction
On inactivity reduce to 80%
Reduce after Never
Before getting responses on the list I found
https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2024/10/completely-disable-suspend-hibernate/
It recommended editing /etc/systemd/sleep.conf and making the following
changes:
AllowSuspend=no
AllowHibernation=no
AllowSuspendThenHibernate=no
AllowHybridSleep=no
I did those, and no longer had to press a key to restore the system
after suspending. However, I now have an error message that says:
GDBus.Error.org.freedesktop.login1.SleepVerbNotSupported: Sleep verb
"suspend" not supported
I assume that means that something I changed is not part of the system I
have. Should I re-edit /etc/systemd/sleep.conf and put the # symbol back
in front of each of some of those four lines?
Thanks for your reply, Ed.
