The paper path is a tight U from input to output tray (tray dependent) and heavier card stock can jam if used in the wrong one. I do not think you can use the duplexer attachment. The LJ 5 being more "office" and less "home" could handle a bit heavier card stock. also, depending on model, there is a rear manual feed with a flatter paper path for card stock - I think. It's been a loooong time since I used an LJ5.
