I run openSuse, but I do not upgrade, I always reinstall from scratch.

When I run linux IT, ages ago. I learned my lessons.

Afaik - the installer does not make any changes until you confim that you
want to install. Disk partitioning maybe the only exception. So, killing
the installer should be fine.
