My reluctance to chase around the audience with the microphone stems from our norm for interaction being too spontaneous for that to really work. No one is patient enough to wait for me to run over to them.
Rode, Sennheiser, etc donations welcome. Any old thing you may have wasting aware in a spare scrap bin. I'm a bit short on cash this year due to new pending house siding and paint - among numerous other repairs before I retire!
My intuition is that what might work is an omidirectional mic in the middle of the room could be hooked up to the second Røde wireless sender, and the levels set on that channel such that people in the room can be heard. We need to validate that somewhere/somewhen that isn't at a regular meeting, away from performance pressure. I have a "puck" microphone that might work, if I can find it. It might be USB, rather than 3.5mm.
Another possibility is to have a directional mic that we could at least point at the spontaneous audience speaker.
