And while you're at it you may as well forget about getting one of those
cheap parallel port scanners. They *won't* work with Linux. Period. No
ands, ifs, or buts. It's the same sort of Windows bigotry we experience
with internal modems. SCSI is your best bet; USB scanners I hear are
properly supported if you have USB support in your kernel (2.4.0 I think
or one of 2.3.x releases).
