nokia's cimd2 protocol supports this feature. you still need a connection to the
telco's smsc though. with the current wave of smsc-ims clients, i wouldnt be too
surprised if a product with this capability will be available in the market. who
knows? it might even go for a free download (crossed fingers). =)
