Use an intelligent UPS and set up your /etc/inittab
to handle the "powerfail" and "powerokwait" conditions
properly.
At Ateneo we do not have intelligent UPSes, but we have
computer-controlled emergency generators that kick in within
a few minutes of a power failure. Most of the time, our UPSes
do not get drained, but there are occasions when the emergency
generators do not start in time.
When you are asked to run fsck manually, that means
the call to "fsck -a" at system initialization could not
properly repair the file system after the damage caused by
the power failure.
Mozcom should get emergency generators. You can afford
them.
