shorterm solution: get a good intelligent UPS that will sync with your server OS and 
power supply. 

longterm solution: upgrade to REISERFS.  REISERFS is less prone to perpetual 
inconsistencies brought by a non-journaling FS like ext2. the REISERFS path saves you 
a lot of headache from FS problems plus use it on your proxy and you get almost 50% 
performance boost from your cache throughput.
