I was looking for something like this before, but shadow passwords seem to
really complicate the matter. Perl allows read-only access, is that
correct? The pages I saw suggested either
   (a) suid root (<gasp!>)
   (b) writing data to a file that'd be regularly checked by a daemon
   (c) su-ing to the user and changing the password using passwd
and I'm not even _sure_ if I understood what those pages were telling me..

How do ISPs do it, anyway? I've heard of poppasswd, which has the added
benefit of letting users change their password from within Eudora, if I
recall correctly.. =)

It's a good thing I found out I was supposed to learn how to change LDAP
passwords, which is probably easier.. <g>
