Jordan,
In our case, credit cards transactions are verified by
authorize.net, a payment gateway. The procedure is we
submit our secure payment form (containing the amount,
item, customer info, invoice number, credit card #,
expiry date, etc) via POST to authorize.net. They will
then verify the card info andreturn result codes for
our further processing. If successful, they will
charge the card and credit the amount to our merchant
account.
