I just got Kannel working. It was a minor pain, as Kannel requires
libxml-2.2.x but all the GNOME fluffies require libxml-1.8.x (that
includes Helixcode's stuff and Nautilus.. which is really gorgeous most of
the time). Anyway, things are dandy, it was less work than getting SANE to
run.
I have verified that my WAP gateway works by using the Nokia WAP Toolkit
2.0 (which has a 7110 emulator) to grok WML content. However it seems that
CSD (circuit-switched data) services have by default been DISABLED by the
geniuses at Globe Telecom, so there's no way I can test the functionality
using a real piece of hardware.
Does anyone know how to get Globe to enable CSD? further, is HSCSD
available (the 43.2kbps transfer rate)? of course the docs say that HSCSD
can only be used for ordinary data transfers, *not* WAP browsing.
As an aside, the Nokia WAP Toolkit only runs on Windoze, but if a WML deck
browser is all one needs, there's a very good one called DeckIt at
www.pyweb.com. It's implemented in TCL.
