Hi all!
A very enterprising friend of mine in Dumaguete has taken it upon himself to
organize a Linux conference in Dumguete entitled Linux Virtual Expo (LiVE).
This will be held on Jan. 13-14 at a rented venue in Dumaguete (more on the
venue later).
This event was supposed to be held last August but was delayed due to financial
and logistics problems.
Right now he actually gotten sponsors to bring myself and one other person to
Dumaguete to conduct some introductory Linux seminars. The 2-day event will
cover basic Unix/Linux concepts, basic commands, an intro to the X-Window
interface, installation and basic system configuration. There will probably be
an intermediate session on network configuration and maybe an intro to shell
programming and php/perl.
We're finalizing seminar materials now. Any suggestions and materials are most
welcome.
I figured that PLUG might want to get involved in this activity in some way. If
you guys have any prepared reading materials that you would allow us to use that
would be great and would help us prepare a "take home" package for the seminar
attendees. If the PLUG board would permit, PLUG could even endorse the project
and, as such, would be acknowledged as a sponsor.
Again, comments and feedback most welcome!
God bless!
