linuxthreads provides threading support for your glibc. this is the linux
implementation of posix threads or pthreads which is a standard defined
by ieee 1003.1 i think.
so if there are application that you pthreads in you system you should
have linuxthreads. however, even if you don't it is a good idea to have
them.
