hello all,

i know this should be in a perl mailing list but since you do (a lot of) linux, you
most probably do perl and you yourselves compose the perl mailing list
lists.q-linux.com/mailman/listinfo/ph-perl...

my problem is listing all the hyperlinked text in an html doc. e.g.

<a href="#">here</a> <a href="#">there</a> <a href"#">everywhere</a>

would list:
here
there
everywhere

what i did was

undef($/);  #undef delimiter, i suppose
$_ = <infile>  #surp the contents of the file
s/\n/ /;  #convert to a long line
$a = 0; #count

while ( $_ =~ /\<[aA].*\>(.*)\<\/[aA]\>(.*)/g )
{
  print("$1\n");
  $_ = $2;
  $a++;
}

the problem is that only the last match is matched! i.e. it outputs

everywhere

only.
pls. help before i crack!!! my fists are already sore punching the wooden walls in my
room (although i'm still sane not to punch the cement ones)

// to those who'd feel offended by the text below, pls don't read it :P
// and btw, i'm allergic to flames

to go further with my ot-ing, the root of this problem is this page. i have this table
that has a width of say 1000%. now what i was doing is that i have this one hidden
layer and i'd do something like (in ie5) :

 <a href="#" onmouseover="dlayer.style.visibility='visible';
                          dlayer.style.left=event.x;
                          dlayer.style.top=event.y;"
             onmouseout="...

it didn't work, obviously. my new approach now is to manually position layers using
dreamweaver, and it sucks!!! if this is the only way left, then i would like to at
least automate it.

suggestions??

tia
