hello, please help. this has been a question that has been bothering our
email systems for some time now. pls look at this ideal scenario.
i have a dialup account to an ISP, and i sent a single message with an
attachment to 20 people using my computer. what happens is this email is
sent to my ISP's SMTP server only ONCE and the SMTP disconnects, then it
sends the email to my destined multiple recepients.
the problem is, on my dialup here running linux sendmail, in which all my
user's SMTP IP address are pointed to, sendmail connects to the ISP's SMTP
the same number of times as how many the recepients of a single email
message is. let's say one of my user sends the same email to 20 recepients,
my local SMTP connects to my ISPs SMTP server (to relay the emails) 20 times
also. i know that there is a thing as "Using cached SMTP connection to..."
which improves the efficieny because the connection to a single mail relay
is done only once and maintained for some time. the thing is, the same
message is relayed over by my local SMTP to the ISP's SMTP 20 times,
although my user just sends it just ONCE to my local SMTP (even with its
multiple recepients).
is there a way that when my user sends email to mutiple recepients ONCE to
my local SMTP, it just sends the same message only ONCE to the ISP's SMTP,
and then that ISP SMTP handles the individual recepient sending? just like
in a very normal end user ideal scenario i mentioned above, since my ISP
accepts my email relaying to them?
please share me your ideas, thank you so much.
