I have a copy of the book myself, although I admit I was expecting something
more... I found out only too late that the book was actually a collection of
the LDP. I've been reading the LDP on the 'net some time before I bought the
book, and I guess that the net is much more up to date.
However, the price is somewhat justified as it is the actual print out of
the various HOWTOs. It would save you the hassle of having to print the docs
out (beautifully) and compiling them. The advantage of the electronic
documents, however, is that you can select only the topics you want printed,
thereby allowing you to make a compilation of your own.
Do not, however, expect Linux Complete to be a "step-by-step" instruction
type of book such as Sam's Linux Unleashed! or Osborne's Linux: The Complete
Reference. These books cost more as they try to walk the newbie through the
steps of actually getting things done, and oftentimes with screenshots too.
If, however, you are able to understand the HOWTO or ReadMe file or
instruction file of Linux or a certain program, save yourself the money by
not buying the books. I've also noticed that at times these books aren't
really able to answer things easily, opting instead to do it the way most
other people do: "read the docs, check your config files, etc..."
